INTRODUCTION
Precious Jewels Ministry (Canada) - (PJM Canada) - is committed to fulfilling our Mission of helping vulnerable children and families wherever we are led by God.

PJM Canada does not gather or retain information about these children or their families.

This policy addresses the privacy of PJM Canada supporters.

PJM Canada's mission is dependent upon the prayers and financial gifts of our supporters, which requires us to collect, use and disclose some personal information.

It is our commitment to protect the privacy of that personal information, to comply with British Columbia s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), to comply with Canada s Federal legislation, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and to comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

We value the trust of those who support us and we recognize that maintaining this trust requires that we be transparent and accountable in how we treat the information shared with us.  We will inform supporters of PJM Canada why and how we may collect and use their personal information.  PJM Canada will carefully safeguard that personal information.

 

COMMITMENT
Our privacy commitment includes ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and the security of supporters' personal information. Supporters have the right to access their personal information from PJM Canada and to provide corrections as necessary.

Every supporter has the right to withdraw their implied or explicit consent for the use of their personal information by making a request to our Privacy Officer.

PJM (Canada) assures that no personal information will be sold, rented, leased, or otherwise made available to any third party for any purpose other than fulfilling the mission of PJM Canada.

 

PROCESSORS
PJM uses trusted third-party service providers to handle some private data. All of our service providers are carefully selected to complement PJM s privacy policy and are governed by Canada s Personal Information Protection and Electronics Documents Act (PIPEDA).

  • Email is hosted by a Canadian service provider. Their service ensures that email correspondence is delivered securely.
  • Secure Storage with end-to-end encryption is provided by a Canadian service provider, hosted on Canadian servers. If private data must be retained (e.g. to provide tax receipts), this secure service ensures that data security and integrity are maintained.
  • Some donations are securely handled by Canadian service providers with expertise in that area. This ensures secure financial transactions while reducing the amount of personal information that PJM must collect and retain.
  • Some donations are processed by an American-owned Canadian service provider.  Those Canadian services are protected by Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

 

COLLECTING
We will only collect personal information where a supporter explicitly or implicitly requests ongoing contact with PJM Canada:

  • Donations implicitly require ongoing contact to process the transaction and issue tax receipts.
  • Email or written requests to correspond with PJM Canada or to receive the PJM Canada Newsletter will require us to retain personal contact information.
  • Anybody may contact the PJM Canada Privacy Officer to request that their personal information be expunged from PJM Canada's records.

 

SCOPE AND DEFINITIONS
This Personal Information Protection Policy applies to PJM (Canada) and all persons whether employees, volunteers, contractors, Board, or committee members. Definitions

  1. Personal Information means information about an identifiable individual i.e. including name, home address and phone number, and email address. Personal information does not include contact information (described next).
  2. Contact information means information that would enable an individual to be contacted at a place of business and includes name, position name or title, business telephone number, business address, business email, or business fax number. Contact information is not covered by this policy or PIPA.
  3. Privacy Officer means the individual designated responsible for ensuring that PJM (Canada) complies with this policy and PIPA and PIPEDA.

MISSION STATEMENT

  • Provide holistic care and support for children at risk.
  • Strengthen the family s role in the nurture and development of children.
  • Reduce the impact of chronic/terminal illness on affected children.
  • Influence the public policies that enhance the care, support and rights of children living in troublesome situations.


Precious Jewels Ministry is a nongovernmental, not for profit charity. It has been caring for vulnerable children in the Philippines since 1987 and in East Africa since 2006.
